I went on a similar journey after cooking a Thanksgiving turkey last year (the most animal-resembling piece of meat I've ever bought or cooked) and haven't cooked or eaten meat at home ever since. I need to get this book.
Recently, I've begun to imagine a future where humans don't eat meat. One where we eat meat substitutes such as burgers grown from bacteria cultures in a lab, or something of the sort. Eating meat is cruel, because the notion that animals don't have feelings is wrong. If you care enough, you can look into their eyes and you can see their souls.

Thank you for posting this. Been vegan for 15 years now, vegetarian for 18. Never understood why the left is so opposed to these ideas.
