Wow. I was just talking to someone about these same ideas. I’ve only recently been exposed to the work of thinkers like the author, but I think I’ve been something of an anarchist my whole life. As far as I can tell, the author is correct, and there is no more space to live free. Or is there? Are there people just opting out? People choosing to live like nomads within the state? Is that a thing?

There are people like this.

You might call them vagrants, punks, whatever. However, they live so not in a truly free manner. They live in constant fear of ending up in a prison cell, being forced away (their tents and humble belongings destroyed etc.), and so on. They live despite, not instead.

That’s right. It’s an interesting form of resistance. Would you say that those people (vagrants, punks, etc) are practicing the highest form of resistance? Since they are choosing to live as though they are not under the contract. Of course they can not avoid the State. But they live alongside it, seeing it as an option.

I think it's a very brave thing to do, yes, and I do admire people who voluntarily live like this. It's exceptional.
